Dr. Monifa brings a unique combination of clinical expertise, athletic experience, and a passion for helping people live pain-free, active lives.

With years of experience in orthopedic rehabilitation, she specializes in treating a broad range of conditions for individuals of all ages, from young athletes to older adults. Her early love for strength, conditioning, and injury prevention was deepened while playing collegiate rugby at James Madison University, but her commitment extends beyond sports injuries to general orthopedic care.

A graduate of High Point University with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy, Dr. Monifa is also a Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist. Her clinical experience spans years of biomechanics research focused on both weightlifters and field athletes. In addition to her background as a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and EXOS Performance Specialist (XPS), she is highly skilled in manual therapy techniques, emphasizing hands-on treatments to restore movement, reduce pain, and improve function for patients with a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions.

Dr. Monifa’s passion for lifelong learning ensures she remains at the forefront of evidence-based care. Her extensive continuing education includes certifications in Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), Orthopedic Dry Needling, and specialized training in concussion and vestibular rehabilitation. She has also completed advanced courses through the Institute of Clinical Excellence (ICE), covering clinical management of both fitness athletes and older adults, as well as comprehensive management of the spine and extremities. This well-rounded expertise allows her to tailor treatment plans to meet the needs of each individual, whether they are recovering from a sports injury, a surgery, or dealing with general orthopedic concerns.

Outside of the clinic, you can find Dr. Monifa at a rugby match, cycling along scenic paths, rock climbing, or challenging herself by learning to surf.
